The word tôle is derided from the French ‘tôle pointe’. ‘painted sheet metal’ – a technique imitating Japanese lacquer that began in the 19th century. This wonderful light hangs with a small chain from its original ceiling rose – simply beautiful. It has been fully restored and rewired, and has the most elegant charm.
