Description
These little porcelain pieces, although typically showing very British scenes, were made in Germany. They were very popular around 1860 until 1900, and were collected as souvenirs. They were originally made to be given away as prizes at fairs hence the name ‘Fairing’.they became less popular with the advent of transport, as people could then travel further afield. Latterly they were just sold in souvenir shops.
Pieces bought from L&N have had a previous life, therefore may show signs of wear consistent with use and age
