Fabulous extra large heavy antique French stoneware jar or confit pot with moulded handles. Acquired with an ill-fitting ‘lid’ stamped with the same ‘S’ mark as the pot – who knows if they go together but we have seen others with similar lids! One thought is, that the lids were purchased separately and that the ‘s’ denotes the matched size.

The pot is wonderful on its own as is the unglazed lid which makes a dish of its own! Such character to this jar – tactile beige stone glaze has a raw charm, marked by age but no visible chips. Traditionally used to store dried beans, lentils or onions.
Pieces bought from L&N have had a previous life, therefore may show signs of wear consistent with use and age
