Description
The Riihimaki glassworks was founded in 1910, in the town of Riihimaki, Finland, by M. A. Kolehmainen and his son A. P. Kolehmainen, who produced domestic glass. It became one of the largest glassworks in Finland. It was renamed Riihimaen Lasi Oy in 1937. In the late 1940s early 1950s a raft of young designers began creating new designs for the factory. This design heritage carried on through the decades and the pieces they produced are still in great demand today. The company was bought out in the 1980s and sadly closed its doors in 1990.
Pieces bought from L&N have had a previous life, therefore may show signs of wear consistent with use and age
