Description
This piece of Lovatt salt-glazed pottery which dates to circa 1905 was made at the Langley Mill Pottery. The jug is stamped to the base as 1 pint and thought to be ‘beadles glaze’ which applies to the lower section of pale blue, which has a harder more utilitarian purpose than the conventionally slipped blue upper. A single line of raised dots in a decorative mark between the two areas of decoration have a slight hint of gilt.
Pieces bought from L&N have had a previous life, therefore may show signs of wear consistent with use and age
