Description
This series of pitchers was issued by Wedgwood in the 1930s and stayed in production for the next 40 years. It was designed and named the “D’ye Ken John Peel” jug after the famous huntsman, John Peel, made famous by a 19th century song which romanticised the sport of foxhunting in England in the 1840s – 50s. “D’ye Ken” means ‘do you know’ in the dialects of northern England where John Peel lived.
The last time these John Peel jugs were made was in the early 1960s.
